DASI Co., Ltd. Receives Ministerial Group Commendation in Eco-Industry Development at the 2024 Korea Circular Economy Festival

The City of Jeonju announced on the 4th that DASI Co., Ltd., an eco-friendly renewable energy and resource circulation company located in the Sangnim-dong Resource Circulation Specialized Complex, has received a Ministerial Group Commendation from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE). The award recognizes the company’s contributions to eco-industry development at the 2024 Korea Circular Economy Festival, hosted by MOTIE.

The 2024 Korea Circular Economy Festival is an award ceremony honoring individuals and organizations that have contributed to the advancement of the resource circulation economy. Awards are presented across three categories: Clean Production, Eco-Industry Development, and Circular Economy.

DASI Co., Ltd., a company pursuing ESG-based corporate management and holding multiple technology patents, produces eco-friendly biodiesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) feedstocks through the recycling of used cooking oil.

Since its establishment in 2017, the company has strengthened its competitiveness and, in 2020, obtained ISCC EU certification, an internationally recognized European eco-product standard. This certification enabled DASI to expand exports to Europe and Asia.

As of this year, the company has achieved cumulative exports of USD 50 million, growing into a globally competitive small and medium-sized enterprise.

DASI has been recognized for its contribution to eco-industry commercialization that promotes carbon neutrality and revitalizes the circular economy by converting waste oils, previously discharged as pollutants or purchased at low cost, into valuable resources. Notable achievements include waste reduction of 42,600 tons over three years, job creation effects resulting from increased revenue (five direct jobs over three years), an estimated annual greenhouse gas reduction of 39 tCO₂eq., and export performance of recycled feedstocks.

Eco-industry development refers to sustainable industrial activities that maximize resource efficiency and minimize environmental pollution by recycling waste byproducts generated within industrial complexes as raw materials or energy sources.

This approach has recently gained attention as a key solution for achieving a circular economy and carbon neutrality.

CEO Park Jonghyun of DASI Co., Ltd. stated, “This award represents the outcome of our long-standing commitment to environmental protection, eco-friendly practices, and sustainable corporate management.” He added, “In response to growing global demands for greenhouse gas reduction and resource recycling, we will continue to strengthen our position as a leading company in resource circulation, circular economy, and carbon neutrality through the commercialization of renewable energy policies both domestically and internationally.”

Lee Young-seop, Director of the Resource Circulation and Green Space Bureau of Jeonju City, commented, “The Resource Circulation Specialized Complex was established to promote innovation and high value creation in the recycling industry. We will continue to provide strong support so that all tenant companies, including this award recipient, can lead the future of resource circulation.

Meanwhile, the Jeonju Resource Circulation Specialized Complex was developed in 2013 in Sangnim-dong, Jeonju, covering approximately 80,000 square meters. The complex was established through the Ministry of Environment’s national public offering project, Waste Resource Circulation Pilot City, aimed at building a regional resource circulation network that enables waste resources to be recycled.
