DASI Co., Ltd. Receives Ministerial Group Commendation in the Eco-Industry Development Sector

DASI Co., Ltd., an eco-friendly renewable energy and resource circulation company located in the Sangnim-dong Resource Circulation Specialized Complex in Jeonju, has received a Ministerial Group Commendation from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) in recognition of its contributions to eco-industry development at the 2024 Korea Circular Economy Festival, hosted by MOTIE.

The 2024 Korea Circular Economy Festival is an award ceremony honoring individuals and organizations that have contributed to the advancement of the resource circulation economy.

Awards are presented in three categories: Clean Production, Eco-Industry Development, and Circular Economy.

DASI Co., Ltd., which holds multiple technology patents and pursues ESG-based corporate management, produces eco-friendly biodiesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) feedstocks through the recycling of used cooking oil.

Since its establishment in 2017, the company has strengthened its competitiveness and, in 2020, obtained ISCC EU certification, a globally recognized European eco-product standard. This certification enabled the company to expand exports to Europe and Asia.

As of this year, DASI has achieved cumulative exports totaling USD 50 million, growing into a globally competitive small and medium-sized enterprise.

The company has been recognized for its contribution to eco-industry commercialization that promotes carbon neutrality and revitalizes the circular economy by converting waste oils, previously discharged as pollutants or purchased at low cost, into valuable resources. Key achievements include waste reduction of 42,600 tons over three years, job creation effects resulting from increased corporate revenue (five direct jobs over three years), an estimated annual greenhouse gas reduction of 39 tCO₂eq., and export performance of recycled feedstocks.

Eco-industry development refers to sustainable industrial activities that maximize resource efficiency and minimize environmental pollution by recycling waste byproducts generated within industrial complexes as raw materials or energy sources. This approach has recently gained attention as an important solution for achieving a circular economy and carbon neutrality.

CEO Park Jonghyun of DASI Co., Ltd. stated, “This award represents the outcome of our commitment to environmental protection, eco-friendly practices, and sustainable corporate management.” He added, “In response to global demands for greenhouse gas reduction and resource recycling driven by climate change, we will continue to strengthen our position as a leading company in resource circulation, the circular economy, and carbon neutrality through the commercialization of renewable energy policies both domestically and internationally.

Meanwhile, the Jeonju Resource Circulation Specialized Complex was established in 2013 in Sangnim-dong, Jeonju, covering approximately 80,000 square meters. The complex was developed through the Ministry of Environment’s national public offering project, the Waste Resource Circulation Pilot City Program, aimed at building a regional resource circulation network that enables waste resources to be recycled.
